My hubby and I raised an orphan squirrel once. We let him go in the backyard but he would come back for food, though in the end he was getting aggressive when the food wasn't presented; ended up biting my hubs, and then I would shoo him away with the water hose. I don't trust them once they get outside. But before I moved to California I had a wild one trained to come get food from my hand every day. Some days he would be skittish, though.
